Parsix GNU/Linux 1.5r1

An updated version of Parsix GNU/Linux 1.5 code name “Viola” is available now. Viola r1 is synchronized with Parsix and Debian testing repositories as of July 24, 2008. This version contains several bug fixes, updated kernel drivers, updated documentation and updated X.Org. Highlights: GNOME 2.22.3, GNU Iceweasel 3.0.1, Pidgin 2.4.3 and OpenOffice.org 2.4.1. Viola officially supports Compiz-Fusion, VirtualBox-OSE and GNU Flash Player.

Mandriva Linux 2009.0 Beta 1

Mandriva is proud to announce the release of Mandriva Linux 2009 Beta 1 ‘thornicrofti’. This beta includes the newest release of KDE 4, KDE 4.1 final (with initial implementation of the Mandriva Ia Ora theme, although this is not yet complete), and GNOME 2.23.5. It also uses Firefox 3 by default, and kernel 2.6.26 final. The new beta also switches to using splashy (rather than bootsplash) for boot and shutdown graphics, and adds synchronization support for Windows Mobile 2003 devices. As always, we remind you not to use pre-releases in any critical situation; install them only on a test system or partition, or in a virtual machine.

There has been an explosion of activity going on over here at PCLinuxOS. The quarterly ISO updates for PCLinuxOS 2009.2 and PCLinuxOS Gnome 2009.2 are now available featuring a fully updated iso with the latest applications from the PCLinuxOS repositories. Additional features include a notification-updater to let you know when there are updates available for your installation. Addlocale will localize your your PCLinuxOS into one of many various languages. GetOpenOffice allows you to install Open Office 3.1 in any of the 104 languages available.
